I have this horrible addiction to technology. My phone or my computer is nearly always in hand- and if it's not, either I'm looking for it frantically or showering (I'm not that crazy). Sometimes I find myself choosing these things over more important things- like actual conversations in the car or dinner, and it's not intentional, but somehow always apart of what I'm doing. SO- I'm setting out to change that. Each day I want to set aside at least 1 hour of time to be unplugged. No computers, no phones, real people & in real life conversation....call me crazy! I think it's a good thing.

So here's to the first of many unplugged hours; a cupcake date with my sister. It's always nice to catch up with this sweet girl, and even more so when there are yummy treats involved. We had a fun little afternoon of discussing her college plans, the recent drama, and the logo and website of her new up and coming business!

Want to join in on Unplugged?! Shall we make this a link up? OH & p.s camera's are clearly allowed! haha ;)

Things I love:
1. Cupcakes
2. Flowers
3. Chocolate
4. Puppies

So it should be no surprise that my favorite summer recipe is chocolate cupcakes that are baked into terra cotta pots! And while I haven't yet found a way to incorporate the puppies part, 3/4 is still good in my book. Today I'm over at christajae.com (authored by a fellow editor at Poppy!) sharing the recipe and process- head on over there to check it out!

There aren't many words to describe just how eventful & incredible the past few weeks have been. I think wow will suffice. Poppy Magazine (www.poppymag.com) officially launched. As senior lifestyle editor I couldn't be more thrilled with our team and the June/July issue. Be sure to check out my summer hosting how-to featuring Hannah Pobar Photography. Speaking of which, has completely taken off. I have been more than busy; but loving every minute of being my own boss for the summer. Caught up in all these wonderful things, I've been more than absent over here, but not to worry- I have some awesome things in the works!

Last weekend I (somehow) managed to turn off my computer & headed home to my parents house for the weekend to spend time with my family for Father's day. It was a great little weekend :) My Dad always makes the best chicken, so of course I thought I'd share. It's really easy- just sprinkle this little mixture onto raw chicken before grilling; 2 tablespoon curry powder, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric, 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 tablespoon smoked sweet paprika, 3 tablespoons brown sugar. Mmmm!

I'm the kind of girl who can never say no to anything/anyone. So when I was approached by Lindsay & the Poppy crew a few months ago with an opportunity to write and produce for this new online magazine- saying no was out of the question, I didn't have to think - "of course(!)", I cried (well, more like, typed). With that, I became the senior Lifestyle editor of this truly inspiring magazine and group of talented, beautiful & creative minds. Watching Poppy evolve over the past few months from merely an idea - to a website (www.poppymag.com), and now we are now just two days from our launch!

While my posts have been sparse on good ol' 17 Inch Heart, I can promise and assure that you will see why in the June issue of Poppy! This baby is packed full of amazing material and design for bloggers and creative people (my favorite kind, of course!). I can't stress enough how blessed I am to be apart of such a dedicated group of individuals. I can't wait to share all of our hard work with you on June 4th!

Join the Poppy phenomena by popping over to poppymag.com or "like" us on Facbook at http://www.facebook.com/PoppyMagazine!

That's the crew! So many inspiring & creative ladies!
